This symposium will examine the Australian Technologies Teacher Education Network (ATTEN) from a Community of Practice perspective. ATTEN has grown from an initial meeting of Technologies Educators in 2019 to a community of over one hundred Technologies Teacher Educators spanning all 43 tertiary education institutions in Australia with a teacher education program teaching Technologies. Panelists will outline the main areas of Network activity (Learning and Teaching, Research, Communications, Events and Partnerships) and analyse the main benefits and issues experienced through a Community of Practice lens. Audience members will be invited to share observations and lessons learnt from ATTEN and other similar networks nationally and internationally. We also take the opportunity to strategise about how to best advance the operation and impact of ATTEN and other Technologies Educator Communities of Practice in the short, medium and long term.

The first in a three-part workshop to equip schools with the necessary knowledge and tools to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in their teaching and learning environments. By bringing together insights from academia, industry professionals, and experienced teachers, the workshop aims to offer a comprehensive overview of how AI can be integrated into educational settings.
This session explores AI’s impact and potential on education. You will then create an AI education framework for your school. Participants attending all three sessions will receive giveaways from Google, including gift vouchers.

This year, the Australian government have rolled out a national framework guiding the use of AI, including Chat GPT, to be used within school classrooms across the country. Use of Chat GPT had previously been banned in all public schools (aside from South Australia) amidst plagiarism and privacy concerns. So what changed? And will the use of artificial intelligence in our classrooms aid or limit learning for our youth?
