Puppet Show


Design, create and perform a finger puppet show with scenery and background, video the show and place it on youtube. It should:
  1. include at least 3 finger puppets;
  2. include scenery and background suited to the story;
  3. puppets that are recognisable as their characters;
  4. voices and sound effects that complement the story; and
  5. performance that tells a recognisable story.

Level 3 (Learning Activity)



Design Challenge

Complete a design challenge that demonstrates to other teachers what is possible for students to achieve from the following challenges:

Design, create and test an innovative item of clothing that will keep someone completely dry in any weather;
Choose a popular meal and create it using only natural Australian bush foods;
Design, create and test an innovative item of formal attire completely from plastic bags;
Design and create an innovative hydroponic garden out of recycled materials and successfully grow something;
Design, create and test an innovative solution to keeping student desks tidy;
Design and create and test an innovative and durable push or pull toy from recycled materials;
Design, create and perform an innovative marionette or Indonesian shadow puppet show;
Design, create and test an innovative conveyor belt system to move a toy 3m;
Design, create and test an innovative sail boat to safely (without it getting wet) move a doll/action figure 3m; or
Design, create and test an innovative insect shelter.

You will document your design process, including design, development, and testing; and present your solution through a shared Google Document (400 words), and a Youtube recording (max 3 minutes);

Your interpretation of the design process; innovation in research, planning and development of the design challenge; and articulation and presentation of your process and solution, will be assessed against the following criteria:

Level 4 (Advanced Activity)



Unit of Work

Outline a 5 hour over one semester (18 weeks) Design and Technology unit of work for a class in F-2 that meets the requirements of the Australian Curriculum: Technologies  (equivalent to 1100 words) and addresses one of the contexts: Materials and Technologies, Food and Fibre Production/Food Technologies; or Engineering Principles and Systems.

The unit should indicate 1. the learning activities students will undertake and the time to be spent on them (innovation), 2. the Knowledge and Understanding and Processes and Production Skills that the unit will develop in students (interpretation), and 3. how these will be assessed (analysis). 

Your unit will be assessed against the following criteria:
