2013EDN (Retired 2014)

Technologies Education

This open online course aims to assist pre-service and current teachers in their teaching of the Technologies (Digital Technologies and Design & Technology) learning area with a particular focus on the Australian curriculum.

While anyone is welcome to read and engage with course material, contribute to asynchronous discussions, attend online synchronous sessions, and compete level 1 and 2 assessments to inform your learning, only enrolled students can submit level 3 and higher assessment tasks for marking (though you are of course welcome to engage with these tasks on your own).

Lecture/Discussion streams can be viewed live here on Fridays from 5-6 pm, they will then be archived to Online Sessions for later review, and questions can be asked during broadcasts (and after) in the Google Group directly below. Students who have been selected to be panel participants should log into their Google+ enabled Google Account and you will receive an invitation (it will popup on your screen) to join the session approximately 15 minutes before it begins, click on this and you will open the hangout session - note that your mike may be muted and can be un-muted in the top right. Questions can be asked during the week in the Google Group below.

You should ensure that you are a member of this group

Several activities require you to upload a youtube video or share a public Google document, the above video clip takes you through this process.

Several tasks involving video can be improved by recording what is occurring on your computer screen, known as screen recording. The easiest tool to use on Apple computers is the included Quicktime Player and for Windows computers, Camstudio is a free download that can be used to record what occurs on the screen.
