15 hour F-10 Professional Development program for 120 teachers to plan for and teach the Digital Technologies curriculum in 2018, conducted in five three-hour weekend sessions, with an online course providing a supporting community of practice, resource sharing and activity extension between sessions. The aim of the program is to meet the immediate focus of teacher interest in preparing Digital Technology courses for 2018, and explore what is possible through the Digital Technologies curriculum while extending available pedagogical approaches to include student directed project based learning (PBL). 


Numbers are capped at 120 participants and registration is on a first-come basis. If you have registered and are no longer able to attend, please contact Dr Zagami ASAP.


Learning objectives

  • Capacity to develop Scope and Sequence structures of learning activities to meet curriculum goals of a specific Australian Curriculum band for the Digital Technologies Subject;
  • Capacity to implement Project Based Learning approaches to teaching the Digital Technologies Subject which meets curriculum goals of a specific Australian Curriculum band;
  • Ability to teach a range of Thinking Skills through Digital Technologies (Moonshot Thinking, Entrepreneurial Thinking, Managerial Thinking, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Futures Thinking, Systems Thinking, Computational Thinking, Design Thinking);
  • Knowledge of a range of Coding Activities and Solutions (Languages, Apps, Websites, Games, Artificial Intelligence);
  • Knowledge of a range of Robotic Activities and Solutions (Inputs, Automation, Robotic Arms, Mobile Robotics, Drones); and
  • Knowledge of a range of Information Solutions (Data Logging, Data Representation, Geospatial Data, Data Security, Wearables),

Five 3 hr F2F (1hr lecture/2 hr practical):

  • 15 Jul Workshop 1: Developing Scope and Sequence structures of learning activities to meet curriculum goals and Project Based Learning approaches to teaching the Digital Technologies Subject;
  • 22 Jul Workshop 2: Teaching Thinking Skills through Digital Technologies (Moonshot Thinking, Entrepreneurial Thinking, Managerial Thinking, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Futures Thinking, Systems Thinking, Computational Thinking, Design Thinking);
  • 29 Jul7 Workshop 3: Coding Activities and Solutions (Languages, Apps, Websites, Games, Artificial Intelligence);
  • 5 Aug Workshop 4: Robotic Activities and Solutions (Inputs, Automation, Robot Arms, Mobile Robots, Drones); and
  • 12 Aug Workshop 5: Information Solutions (Data Logging, Data Representation, Geospatial Data, Data Security, Wearables)
